This news is going to mean a lot more bargains for Irish online shoppers.
Amazon-UK have removed almost all restrictions on shipping goods to Ireland (April 2009).
Previously - Irish online shoppers could only get jealous and angry as they bought their books, cds and DVds on Amazon and saw all the other great prices on laptops,  cameras, camcorders , satnav - ie. almost everything else they sell.
Well now - Irish shoppers (ie all  of Western Europe) can get all items delivered to their door by Amazon. This is not an April fools joke - I have tried it and it is true. I ordered an Xbox Console , a Laptop,  a Digital Camera all for delivery to the West of Ireland - and there was no problem getting through checkout. Usually you would be told at checkout that your items could not be delivered to your address. Not any more.

The prices shown on the Amazon UK include UK VAT (15%) .
Irish customers - correctly and legally - get charged Irish VAT (21.5%) . So just be aware of that when you notice a difference in the price at checkout.
If you want to work out a final price yourself - just add on 5.65 pence  for every pound or £5.65 on every hundred pounds.

Note: Make sure the item you have selected is being sold by Amazon and not by one of their marketplace sellers. Many of the other sellers don’t deliver to Ireland

There are also restrictions on weight - any item that is 30 kg or heavier, cannot be delivered outside mainland UK. (Will probably only apply to some fitness equipment or lawnmowers etc)

Delivery comes in at £8.50 for orders up to 30kg - so you may as well stock up on Ecover floor cleaner, Ecover Rinse Aid, Ecover toilet cleaner and lots more from the Ecover range. Don’t be put off when it says “UK Delivery Only” - I have been informed that delivery to Ireland is fine on all Ecover products except the 25 litre bottles.

A small range or Ecover stuff is available at Tesco Ireland -  for Laundry and Dishwashing . You  can order it online for home delivery along with your weekly shopping if you live in a Tesco delivery area. (Counties Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath or Louth - and within 20 miles of the towns of Galway, Castlebar, Cork, Limerick, Ennis or Carlow )

Ecover cleaning products can also be bought online for people in ahurry - with next day delivery in Ireland at Viking Direct.  They are a bit more expensive but ordering more items brings the price per item down. Delivery is free if your order value is more than €75 Euro and same day delivery is available in Dublin. Displayed prices exclude VAT - be warned.

Northern Ireland residents can also get Ecover stuff online at Tesco UK who deliver to all of Northern Ireland postcodes.

Irish residents can also buy other eco-friendly , organic , fairtrade and green products at  the Ethical Superstore . They deliver most of their products to Ireland such as Organic food tea and coffee, Organic clothes, Wind up radios and MP3 players and solar powered gadgets. (Just not Ecover stuff!)

Delivery to Ireland starts at £3.50 and it is £8.50 for orders over 500g up to 30Kg.
Delivery in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK is free on orders over £40 and  starts at  £2.50 for smaller orders.
