Waterstones is yet again offering a discount voucher code with a saving of 20% on all children’s books The code to use is CL8326. The offer is valid until midnight Thursday 4th December. You can get the latest JK Rowling Book for £2.79 or The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas also for £2.79 with this discount code . Most of the children’s bestsellers already have a 50% discount - so you end up getting a 60% discount in total.
Delivery rates are Free to NI and UK and for Ireland it is £3.99 per order and 99p per book.
Waterstones are joining many other retailers and offering 20% off everything online.
Until Sunday 23rd November you can get 20% off when you spend £25 or more at Waterstones online!
Many books are already at half price - so a further 20% discount means a 60% total discount.

We did a quick - price comparison of the cost of buying 4 books online with delivery to Ireland. The 4 books were chosen as the type that people will probably be buying as Christmas presents. The selections were fairly random. The results were not too surprising - Easons turned out to be over €31 Euro more expensive than Amazon for just 4 books! Amazon were the cheapest and Waterstones total price came fairly close to that of Amazon.

(using 1.25 Euro to the £ (The rate could be better than this))
Even at an exchange rate of €1.50 to the pound - Easons would still be more expensive.
Once again - I know where I will be doing my online Christmas book buying again this year - Amazon or Waterstones.

Walmart who own Asda in the UK - is rumoured to be looking at buying Dunnes Stores in Ireland.
Asda.ie redirects visitors to Walmart.com - but they don’t deliver to Ireland.
Asda have an excellent online shopping site though - so even if Asda don’t come to Ireland you can always do some shopping at Asda Entertainment. They sell DVDs Books and Games with delivery to Ireland. The prices can be very good at times. It isn’t obvious from the Asda site that they do deliver to Ireland - but they do. I have checked with customer support at Asda. They tols me that delivery to Ireland is £1.59 - but it doesn’t seem to be mentioned on the Asda website. Save yourself a journey to Northern Ireland and get the Sterling prices from the comfort of your chair.

Borders is a big UK based bookshop that also sells books cds and dvds online.
They have a discount code BORDERS1508 which will give you 15% off anything until September 39th 2008. (Items not already discounted above 15%. )
Delivery charges to Ireland are as follows:
Books 99p per book ; £3.99 per delivery ( 3 books = 3.99 plus 2.87 = 6.86 GBP)
CDs 50p per item ; £1.59 per delivery
DVDs 60p per item ; £3.99 per delivery
HMV has no dedicated Hmv.ie site for it’s Irish customers - but that is not a problem because online shoppers in Ireland can use the main HMV.com site.
HMV sell a wide range of Cds, DVDs, TShirts , Video Games . Delivery to Ireland is £2.50 GBP - about €3.12 Euro per item. Amazon no longer deliver video games to Ireland - so the HMV website is a brilliant alternative and great for those of us living outside of Dublin, Cork, Limerick or Galway.
HMV’s online prices are sometimes cheaper than the Irish HMV shops even after delivery charges are included - and the Euro Sterling exchange rate is favourable for Irish shoppers just now. See the prices on HMV now.
