Rear Facing Buggies and Pushchairs - better for Children

November 25th, 2008 by Discount Alert | No Comments | Filed in Baby Equipment, Pushchairs, Quinny

Survey results in the media this week said that children who were pushed around in buggies or pushchairs that faced away from their parents - could end up with psychological damage.
If you are looking for puschairs or buggies that are rear facing or can be adjusted to face either the front or face to face - Kiddicare have these  Rear Facing Buggies for sale.

Buggies, prams and pushchairs  made by Quinny, Silver Cross, Bebeconfort, Maxi Cosi.
Delivery is free in mainland UK on orders over £50. Delivery to Ireland and Northern Ireland and some outlying parts of the UK is £19.99.
The prices on Kiddicare are pretty good - and they still save you money with delivery charges added on.

Almost 3,000 pairs of parents and babies were studied as part of the research by Dundee University. In one experiment, 20 babies were pushed for a mile, half the journey being spent in an away-facing buggy and the rest in a toward-facing one.

It was discovered 25 per cent of parents using face-to-face buggies talked to their baby - more than twice as many as those with away-facing buggies.

Babies facing towards the buggy-pusher were found to experience a reduced heart rate and were twice as likely to fall asleep, suggesting they were less stressed.

Mothers and infants who had a chance to use both types of buggy laughed more frequently with face-to-face buggies. Only one baby in the group of 20 laughed during the away-facing journey, while half laughed during the face-to-face journey.

So  - don’t buy a puschair that doesn’t allow the baby to face the pusher.

If you are looking for bikes - try Evans Cycles - they deliver bikes to Ireland (delivery is £25 each) but the prices are cheap and the range of bikes available is much better than Halfords.

Wiggle is another great online bike shop - with free delivery to Ireland on some bikes

For Child Car Seats you can use Kiddicare - delivery to Ireland and Northern Ireland is £19.99 though - so you would need to have a fairly big order to make it worthwhile.
