Cheapest Kindle in Ireland

May 1st, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, E-Reader, KIndle

After the launch of the new Kindle ‘Paperwhite’ Amazon have reduced the cost of their standard and hugely successful ‘E Ink’ e-reader. Although it lacks the ultra crisp screen of it’s older brother the E Ink Kindle is by no means a sub par device, it weighs just 170 grams, can hold up to 1400 books and features built in wi-fi for downloading on the go. The Kindle series has revolutionized the way millions of people consume their literature, the ability to store thousands of titles, change font style and keep reading on the same battery charge for weeks has made it the go-to device for book lovers. Although it seems like a big leap from paper to screen your eyes won’t notice a thing, the Kindle reads exactly like paper with no back-light whatsoever, this means that reading in the sun won’t be a problem at all. On top of all this you have a unrivaled library of books at your fingertips, with e-books often at lower prices than the print version a Kindle is likely to save you money as well as time.

If you’re thinking of making the jump to e-readers then the Kindle is the perfect device, it’s a high quality product with tonnes of features and it won’t break the bank. The standard Kindle is currently a bargain £69 on amazon.co.uk, for Irish customers this equates to around €81. The Kindle also qualifies for amazon’s free ’super-saver’ delivery to Ireland.

Cheap Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games in Ireland

April 24th, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox Games

Ireland lost another high street video game retailer after the recent closure of HMV, they followed fan favorites GAME into administration leaving Irish consumers very little choice of outlets when buying their games. Smyths, Xtravision and Gamestop are among the few video game shops left in Ireland at the moment so in some cases selection is limited and prices are high.

For some of the best deals when it comes to Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games the internet, specifically amazon.co.uk, is currently the best place to look. There are constantly great sales for old, new and upcoming titles, their fully priced games are also great value, a prime example is the brand new ‘Bioshock Infinate’ which will set you back around €40 which is currently cheaper than any high street retailer. As is always the case with items sold by amazon.co.uk the delivery cost to Ireland is free on orders over £25

There are currently some great games at very low prices and across various platforms on amazon, these include:

  • Tomb Raider
  • Far Cry 3
  • Assassins Creed 3
  • Skyrim
  • Dishonored
  • Batman: Arkham City
So if you’re looking for a great new game to play and don’t want to break the bank take a look at what amazon have to offer, you’re always going to find a great bargain regardless of the shipping costs to Ireland or the console you play.

Sony Xperia Z Price Comparison In Ireland

April 17th, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, Best Buys, Free, Meteor, Mobile Phones, Smartphones, Sony, Xperia Z, o2, three Ireland

The new Sony Xperia Z is the hottest smartphone in Ireland right now, after getting the jump on the likes of the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 the Xperia Z is rumored to have sold around 4.6 million units worldwide in the last 40 days. The phone has received universal praise for its high quality design, HD camera and screen, great battery, perfect sound quality and revolutionary water resistance. The phone is selling like hot cakes in Ireland right now, so much so that Vodafone has zero stock left, here’s a price comparison for the Xperia Z for the remaining three Irish phone companies.

As far as I can see Meteor currently have the best bill pay offer in Ireland for the Sony Xperia Z. For €49 per month over 24 months you receive unlimited calls and unlimited texts as well as 5Gb of data per month, on top of this you get a free Xperia Z. There is also a slightly cheaper option which is €45.74 per month over 24 months with a free phone but your usage is cut to 200 minutes and 200 texts, I feel is is worth paying the extra €3.25 per month for the unlimited plan just for the peace of mind you will have knowing you can’t go over your contracted minutes.

If you live in Ireland and you’re thinking of buying the Sony Xperia Z then the Meteor offer is by far the best in the country. It outshines both offerings from O2 and Three in both value per month and the cost of the smartphone. Stocks of the ‘Z’ are expected to run out quite quickly so if you fancy picking up this amazing piece of technology don’t take your time.

Alternatively the Xperia Z is currently available SIM-free from amazon.co.uk for £490, which is around €570.

O2 seem to have the worst offering of the bunch when it comes to the Xperia Z, currently a mid-level 24 month contract with the mobile giants will set you back €50 per month as well as a €189 charge for the phone itself. The ‘Choice 800′ plan will get you a choice of 600 mins and 200 texts, 400 mins and 400 texts or 200 mins and 600 texts per month as well as free O2 to O2 calls and texts and 1Gb of internet.

Three Ireland have a slightly better Xperia Z offer, it can be picked up for €40.66 per month over 24 months and a €79 charge for the phone. The ‘Classic Flex Max’ contract will get you 350 ‘flexi units’ and unlimited data, one flexi unit is the equivalent of one minute of calls or two texts to any network. With three you also get free calls to people on the same network and 333 internet texts.

As the world gears up for a new console war between Microsoft and Sony consumers in Ireland can take advantage of the next generation console releases by picking up an Xbox 360 at its lowest price yet. Amazon is currently selling a 4 Gb Xbox 360 along with a Kinect and ‘Kinect Adventures’ game for just £169.98, that’s just under €200 for those in Ireland.

If you’re new to consoles or haven’t had the chance to own a 360 then now is the perfect time to get your hands on one. For all you PlayStation owners who have yet to purchase an Xbox, the Microsoft console has hundreds of exclusive titles as well as exclusive downloadable content and achievements. With the Kinect you also see another side to the Xbox, it incorporates all ages and all types of video game lovers in a lot of its games, it’s also a lot of fun when you have friends or family get-together’s. For the more casual gamer the Kinect can be great if you want to keep fit, there’s lots of exclusive games which blend exercise with goals or tasks to make them a lot more fun, it also has the advantage of being a lot cheaper than classes or gym membership. Another great advantage of owning an Xbox 360 is the ever-increasing number of apps available to Xbox Live users, streaming services such as SKY, Netflix and 4OD now have a presence on Xbox making the streaming of TV and movies quick and easy.

If you want to take the plunge into console gaming, would like to own a 360 before the next generation consoles are released or think an Xbox 360 would make a great gift then now is the perfect time to pick one up. Cheapest Smartphone in Ireland

April 10th, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, Delivery to Ireland, Galaxy Ace, Samsung, Smartphones

For anyone looking to trade-in their regular mobile phone for a brand new smartphone may see it as a daunting and expensive upgrade, this doesn’t have to be the case. There are many high quality, inexpensive smartphones out there and none of them stand out as much as the Samsung Galaxy Ace which is available SIM-free on amazon.co.uk at over 70% off.

The Galaxy Ace may not rate as highly as the S3 or the ‘Note’ but, as we’ve come to expect from Samsung, it is a high quality phone nonetheless. The Ace runs the Android operating system and features a 3.5 inch screen, 5 megapixel camera, Micro SD card slot and toughened ‘Gorilla Glass’ screen. The Ace has everything you need from a smartphone at an incredibly cheap price, the only real drawback, if any, is it’s short battery life but this can easily be remedied by changing certain settings to close apps that aren’t being used.

If you’re looking for a high quality, entry level smartphone then the Samsung Galaxy Ace is the perfect choice. Not only is it made to Samsung’s high standards but for what you get it is probably the best value for money phone in Ireland right now. Also, because it is SIM-free it’s perfect for anyone who doesn’t want to enter into a long contract with Irish phone companies, you can just pop in your ‘pay as you go’ SIM and you’re ready to go.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace is available at 73% off from amazon.co.uk now.

High Quality, Good Value Headphones in Ireland

March 27th, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, Audio-Technica, Headphones, Klipsch

Following the closure of HMV in Ireland many consumers may feel that their options in terms of technology accessories have been cut. This is certainly not the case as amazon.co.uk have by far the widest range of accessories at some of the lowest prices around, almost all of which are available for delivery to Ireland. For those looking for some high quality headphones to replace their stock or broken set, but don’t want to break the bank, then look no further than amazon.

Klipsch Image S4 Headphones

Klipsch are one of the lesser known tech manufacturers for reasons which I cannot fathom. They produce some of the best quality products at unbelievably low prices and the Image S4 headphones are a prime example. They are noise isolating, extremely comfortable, come with 4 sets of different sized ear tips and, most importantly, sound amazing. The Image S4’s are currently available at over 50% off making them, in my opinion, the best value in-ear headphones out there. Pick up a pair of Klipsch Image S4’s from amazon.co.uk and see what the fuss is about.

Audio-Technica ATH M50

For those of you in Ireland who are looking for extremely high quality over-ear headphones, forget the likes of Beats or SMS Audio, the Audio-Technica series of headphones are among the most underrated and value high-end headphones on the market. They aren’t cheap by any means but their quality is far superior to almost all of the headphones in the same price bracket, many of which are now just fashion accessories. What you get with Audio-Technica ATH M50 headphones is truly amazing audio quality which is suitable for professional sound editing as well as noise cancelling, comfortable and collapsible design.
They are currently the highest rated headphones on amazon.co.uk, 77 of 90 users giving the ATH M50’s 5 stars. Head over to amazon.co.uk now to check out the reviews for yourself and pick up a pair of these world class headphones.

Cheapest Samsung Galaxy S3 Deals In Ireland

February 13th, 2013 by paddyb | No Comments | Filed in Amazon, Amazon.ie, Electronics, Gadgets, Ipad Mini, KIndle, Netflix, Nexus Tablet, Samsung, Smartphones, Telephones, price comparison

Perhaps the biggest rival to Apple’s iPhone 5 in Ireland is the Samsung Galaxy S3. Samsung and Apple have been battling it out in the smartphone market for a few years now with both making constant innovations to their revolutionary products in order to try and get ahead of the game.

The Galaxy S3 is Samsung’s successor to the hugely popular S2 and makes many improvements on the handset. The S3 has improved battery life, quad core processors, Bluetooth 4.0, double the storage (64Gb) and an improved screen. The device also runs the Android operating system, one of the most reliable and constraint-free in the world. The S3 comes in a curved ‘pebble’ design, so it fits in the hand much more naturally compared to traditional smartphones.

As far as buying the Galaxy S3 in Ireland sim-free, it will set you back upwards of €500. However the phone is available from all mobile networks on contract at either a reduced rate or even completely free.

Meteor has the S3 on contract through a range of price plans, the cheapest being €40.66 per month for a 24 month contract. This will give you a free handset, 200 minutes, 200 texts and 5Gb of data.

For the same price per month over 24 months, with a handset cost of €69 Three Ireland offers all you can eat data and 350 flexi-units. One flexi-unit is equal to one minute of call time or 2 texts to any network.

To receive a free S3 via Vodafone you will need to avail of their ‘MyWay Complete’ plan which will set you back €65 per month. Vodafone’s ‘MyWay Plusplans are customizable and come with free calls and texts to all Vodafone mobiles as standard. An example plan that I put together included 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 1Gb of data, this plan would cost €48 per month as well as a €149.99 charge for the device itself.

O2 offer the Galaxy S3 to Irish customers at a minimum cost of €109. A prime example of an average price plan that they offer is the O2 choices 800 24 month plan. This includes 200 minutes and 600 texts as well as 1Gb of data per month and will cost €50 per month.

After looking at everything Meteor, Vodafone and O2 have to offer it seems that Three have the best all-round plan for the Galaxy S3 in Ireland. With unlimited data and the handy flexi-unit system it is definitely worth the €69 you’ll pay for the handset.
