Weak Pound means Bargains for Irish Online Shoppers
November 13th, 2008 by Discount Alert | Filed under Best Buys, Christmas Shopping, Delivery to Ireland, Exchange Rate, bargain alert. The weakness of Sterling against the Euro continues. Today it fell to 84.7 pence against the Euro - the lowest since the introduction of the Euro. A pound is now worth about €1.19 on the currency markets. This is good news for online shoppers in Ireland buying from UK based shops that deliver to Ireland.
In September 2007 the Pound was worth about €1.50 euro . An item priced at £100 GBP would have cost €150 Euro. Now the conversion rate means the same item would only costs Irish purchasers about €120. Even with delivery charges from the UK - online prices are still good compared to Irish “high street” shops. You can use your Irish credit card to purchase goods in Sterling - with no problems.
